My name is Alice Spitzner Claussen, I am a L.Ac. with my Dipl.O.M. practicing in Coralville, IA. I am looking for a recent Chinese medicine school graduate to mentor and share office space. I will make myself available to review cases and answer questions. You will have the opportunity to observe treatments.
I have been in continuous practice in Johnson County, Iowa since September 2003. My practice is primarily informed by Traditional Chinese Medicine. The modalities I practice are acupuncture, moxibustion, cupping, gua sha, bleeding, Chinese herbal medicine (bulk, granular, patent), nutritional and lifestyle counseling. I have had extensive post-grad training with Christine Cannon and Sharon Weizenbaum.
I practice 4 days per week and treat an average of 25 to 30 patients a week. It is a general practice with an emphasis on women’s health, especially fertilty, prenatal and post-partum. There are two treatment rooms, an office, a bulk, granular, and patent herb pharmacy. My clinic is located within a larger umbrella clinic, Seva Center for the Healing Arts. Other practitioners within the office include massage therapists, psychotherapists, a nurse practitioner, doulas, a lactation consultant, and a direct-entry midwife.
I am looking for someone willing to make a minimum two year commitment. You will be my subleasee as well as mentee with the option to rent one or both treatment rooms during my off hours ($500/mo per room). Rent includes all utilities, laundry facilities, and receptionist, when available. Living space within walking distance to the clinic is available to rent.
Coralville, Iowa (pop. 20,400) is next to Iowa City (pop. 74,400), home of the University of Iowa, a Big Ten university with a medical, law, and dental school. The University presence makes the Iowa City area quite progressive and provides a large amount of culture. University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics in Iowa City is a major medical center in the Midwest and draws patients from all over Iowa and neighboring states.
